Occupy Wall Streeters, labor activists and progressives marched to the headquarters of U.S. Bank.

The bill, which the President has vowed to veto, would also strengthen conscience exemptions for medical facilities that disagree with abortion, such as religious institutions. Opponents say this clause could lead to pregnant women being denied life-saving medical care.

Demonstrations supportive of the Occupy wall Street movement were held in Duluth, Rochester and Brainerd.

Protesters will meet for a general assembly at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Minnesota Power Plaza.

Tom Prichard, Minnesota Family Council president, had dismissed anti-amendment Republicans as “social liberals,” saying their opposition to the gay marriage ban isn’t newsworthy.

Problems with mortgages aren’t confined to Chicago, Minnesotans have been foreclosed on more than 22,000 times this year.

Ellison said officials should respect the autonomy of the Occupy Wall Street movement, and not try to “inject” themselves into it.
