For the first time since 1,300 workers at American Crystal Sugar were locked out on Aug. 1, the company and union representatives will meet Thursday. The move was requested by a federal mediator.

The Minnesota Association of Professional Employees (MAPE) voted on Friday to oppose a ballot measure that, if approved by the voters 2012, would place a ban on same-sex marriage in the Minnesota Constitution. MAPE’s board of directors voted unanimously on the issue.
Democrats won only two of the six recall contests, which were sparked by dissatisfaction with laws passed by the legislature and Gov. Scott Walker that took away public sector workers’ collective bargaining rights.

Minnesotans for a Fair Economy plans to rally outside the downtown Minneapolis offices of Wells Fargo Wednesday, according to a notice the group released Tuesday. The “Piece of the Pie Rally” — to “dramatize the need for a ‘slice of the pie’ for ordinary citizens” and the unemployed — is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m.

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee chair issued a subpoena Monday for all documents, including emails and phone logs, related to a National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) decision that Boeing opened a non-union factory in South Carolina to punish union workers in Seattle.
