Pawlenty’s debut on the social-media platform of the moment and an announcement of a retooling for Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s campaign Web site had political wags a-twitter about what he’s running for — a third term as governor in 2010, the Republican nomination for president in 2012, or both.

Despite the striking, Soviet look of Pawlenty’s red-black Twitter page, his message window initially had a legibility problem due to a lack of clash: white type on a white background.

Another interesting aspect of the governor’s Twitter page: He labels himself “TPAW” for what seems like the first time in public. But he forsakes what could have been a brilliant Twitter handle (“@tpaw”) for the more proletarian “@pawlenty.”
