On Tuesday, two groups called on Sen. Amy Klobuchar to sign on as a cosponsor of a bill to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) noting that she is the only Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee who has not taken that step.

The White House announced Tuesday that President Barack Obama is throwing his support behind legislation which would effectively kill the federal Defense of Marriage Act.

Removal from Public Policy Polling’s general election poll match-ups bodes badly for Pawlenty, whose campaign has faltered in primary state polls.

Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has raised almost a quarter of his campaign funds from Minnesotans. His $4.45 million in contributions puts him well below Mitt Romney, whose total haul for this election cycle is $18.3 million.
In Iowa Thursday, Tim Pawlenty told supporters, “You don’t have to be a jerk to be strong” before excoriating the president. Obama “was in the Senate long enough to have a cup of coffee before going to the White House, and he hasn’t done anything, he hasn’t accomplished anything,” Pawlenty said.
Rep. Michele Bachmann avoided all attempts by ABC News personality George Stephanopoulos to get her to confirm that she’s in for 2012, but made clear that she intends to compare herself with President Barack Obama and not other candidates in the GOP field.
While Michele Bachmann’s family and supporters see a good-hearted but penny-wise Christian mother who worked with disabled kids and took in bulimic and anorexic foster children, her opponents see a bare-knuckles campaigner with far-right views and a penchant for hyperbole and misstating facts in attacking opponents.

At CIA headquarters in Virginia today, Rep. Michele Bachmann viewed photos of the late Osama bin Laden who was killed in a U.S. military raid in Pakistan and confirmed his identity. “I am convinced that this was Bin Laden,” she said, according to the Star Tribune. “We got our man.”
Minnesota’s congressional delegation, as well as its likely presidential candidates, responded to last night’s news that al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has been killed in an American surgical raid near Islamabad. Reactions ranged from thanks to the military and calls for continued vigilance against the terrorist threat to rare kudos for President Obama from former Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
