What a hoot! Obama returns to downtown Minneapolis digital billboards

President Obama will be shown on two of downtown Minneapolis’ digital billboards while he speaks about health care to a crowd inside Target Center, according to David Brauer of MinnPost. It won’t be the president’s first time to get lit on the electronic signs.


Republican Molnau ‘kneecaps’ free speech in vote against display of anti-war billboards

Up until Wednesday, Republican National Convention delegates could expect to see video of Guantanamo detainees, scenes from the Iraq war, and movies like “Body of War” broadcast on huge Jumbotron trucks from the capitol front lawn. But thanks to Minnesota’s second-highest constitutional officer, Republican Lt. Gov. Carol Molnau, the project’s permit was denied.

That’s not the end of it, though: The digital billboard’s sponsor, True Blue Minnesota, is heading to court this afternoon in hopes of winning back the right to present the videos.


Daily Show RNC billboards welcome “rich white oligarchs”

East-Lake points out new billboards produced by The Daily Show to welcome the Republican National Convention. This one, near Highway 77 and 494, welcomes “rich white oligarchs.” Jon Stewart’s Comedy Central show will be taping in St. Paul Sept. 2 through 5 at The History Theatre at McNally Smith College of Music.
