But Paul’s win — topping the likes of Mitt Romney and Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who placed fourth — reveals plenty about the state of conservatism today.

At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, D.C., on Friday, Rep. Michele Bachmann talked about the founding fathers, the President Bush “Miss me yet?” billboard spotted in her district, and what she calls President Obama’s “thought police.”

Just hours after he vetoed medical care for the poorest Minnesotans while in Washington, D.C., Gov. Tim Pawlenty worked the crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Friday. He railed against Democrats, touted Minnesota as the most liberal state in the nation, and told the audience that God should stay in government.

Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) organizers announced on Twitter Thursday afternoon that Rep. Michele Bachmann will be speaking at its annual conference in late February and will be introduced by Minnesota blogger Ed Morrissey. Bachmann joins Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who will also be speaking at the conference.

Sarah Palin will not attend the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) next month – in part, according to The Fix, because the John Birch Society is a co-sponsor. That isn’t stopping Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who is set to speak at CPAC.
