After talking with a range of locals from former Gov. Jesse Ventura and an RNC representative to antiwar protester Ahn Pham, he concludes that the convention is “nothing more than a branded Republican infomercial.” Highlights of “Unconventionally  Yours” include Ventura chiding the U.S. for following not the path of Thomas Jefferson, but that of Nazi Hermann Goering, and Minneapolis mayor R.T. Rybak discussing the metro’s bid as convention host:

“When the Republicans awarded this, they did give me a call and said, ‘Gee, we want to make sure you’re going to work as hard for the Republican convention as you’re gonna for the Democratic convention,” said Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak. “I said, ‘To be honest, I’ll work a little harder for the Republican convention.’ They said, ‘Why?’ And I said, ‘Well, to make sure the protest areas are comfortable for my wife and kids.’”
