The fundraiser is taking place in Los Angeles and will cost between $2,400 and $4,800 to attend. It’ll be held at the House of Blues on Sunset Blvd. on Friday evening.

The Democrat’s recount committee hauled in $1.1 million in the first quarter of 2009 to pay for the ongoing U.S. Senate contest. According to the group’s quarterly filing with the Federal Election Commission, it spent every penny available, leaving the coffers empty as of March 31.

Franken’s list of donors includes numerous celebrities: Tom Hanks, Burt Bacharach, Steve Martin, Jane Curtin, John Grisham, John McEnroe and Dan Aykroyd, among others. David Boies, who represented Al Gore in the 2000 presidential recount chipped in $12,300, while Bill Clinton’s former chief of staff, Thomas “Mack” McLarty, contributed $1,000.
