Democrats rally at labor hall for final push

Democrats gathered at the St. Paul Trades & Labor Assembly this evening for a final pre-election rally. Various DFL pols, including Senate candidate Al Franken, addressed the crowd.

Rep. Betty McCollum was on hand.

As was St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman.

Flanked by David Wellstone, son of the late Senator, Franken exhorted the DFL faithful to help him defeat Sen. Norm Coleman.

Al Franken’s a raving lunatic, right? That’s what Norm Coleman’s supporters would have you believe, but an interesting new Franken video calls out Coleman for a pretty egregious misrepresentation. The story, well told (and told first) by MNPublius, shows how two Coleman ads by the National Republican Senatorial Committee used a snippet of a crazed-looking Franken to suggest the Democrat has anger issues. In fact, the footage is from Franken’s imitation of the late Sen. Paul Wellstone, who used to run alongside his son David during cross-country races shouting wildly, “You can take this guy! You can take this guy!”
