San Francisco ad agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners has come up with a series of spoof ads to promote the candidacy of Barack Obama. Created with director Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl), the best ads in the series speculate on what goes on in McCain campaign strategy sessions. The ads aren't on TV yet, but GS&P creative director Jamie Barrett says the commercials have been sent to the Democratic party and may yet see airtime. The most likely candidate for a broadcast run -- and the most biting: "A fly on the wall." It begins with a senior marketing advisor explaining the strategy: "One word: Maverick." He repeats the word in response to a list of McCain negatives provided by a colleague:

Junior ad guy: "Voted with Bush 90 percent of the time."

Senior ad guy: "Maverick!"

Junior ad guy: "...A champion of financial deregulation."

Senior ad guy: "Maverick!"

Junior ad guy: "...He doesn't how many houses he has..."

Senior ad guy: "Maverick, maverick, maverick: We just keep saying Maverick 'til that's all they hear. It's not that hard."
