Dave Bicking will be kicking ass off a new city council campaign song

Quick: What rhymes with Bicking? In South Minneapolis’ city council race, Ward Nine challenger Dave Bicking is rolling out an unconventional campaign tool: the Green Party–endorsed candidate now has a song written about him. And to answer that question, “kicking” is the rhyming word — and it’s followed immediately by the word “ass.”

Minneapolis Ward 2: All Green after Carlson collapse?

The one Minneapolis City Council seat in the clutches of the Green Party is likely to stay that way, unless a credible DFL candidate comes forward to take the place of Charles Carlson, the newly departed — and truly incredible — challenger to incumbent Cam Gordon. The Green stalwart, who won by 141 votes in 2005 after losing by only 106 votes in 2001, tells the Minnesota Independent he plans to campaign for re-election as usual but won’t be surprised if the DFL decides to endorse no one to oppose him.


Minnesota Greens leaning toward McKinney

The Green Party of Minnesota held its statewide caucus and a nonbinding presidential straw poll last night. Former Georgia Democratic congresswoman Cynthia McKinney received 62 percent of the votes with 50 of 67 state Senate districts reporting, according to the party’s Web site.
