Keith Ellison say that if a public option is not part of Congress’ plan for health care, he will not vote for the plan. For weeks, Congress has been debating a health care plan that includes a Medicaid type public option for those that lack health insurance.

“I will not vote for any health care that does not include a public option,” Ellison said on the House floor on Wednesday. “I will not do it. That’s a guaranteed no vote and I will not be dissuaded from that.”

Next door to Ellison’s district, Rep. Betty McCollum has taken some heat for not speaking loud enough in support of the public option and a single-payer system.
