Radical remarks by Minnesota conservatives ‘show how extreme they really are’

From Allen Quist to Mike Parry, several conservative candidates in Minnesota have recently made (or have had revealed) statements extreme enough to earn terms of rebuke like “intolerant,” “appalling,” and “poisonous.” A partisan critic and a political scientist say such remarks show the candidates are not “of” their party’s rank and file and “erode [the candidates'] ability to speak to the voting middle.”

Parry denies Twitter scrubbing, calls Obama ‘angry’ black man

Mike Parry, the Republican candidate running to fill the seat of Sen. Dick Day in the District 26 special election, denied he erased any updates on his Twitter account and defended a tweet in which he called President Obama a “Power Hungry Arrogant Black Man.” To that description, he added “angry,” as well.
