On Monday, Rep. Keith Ellison read a statement condemning the actions of four Republican House members who are calling for an investigation of Muslim interns in Congress. The statement was written by Ellison and supported by the Tri-Caucus, a group composed of the Congressional Black Caucus, the Asian Caucus and the Hispanic Caucus.

Rep. Keith Ellison, speaking at a conference at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars on Friday, said that better relations between the United States and the Arab-speaking world are in the best interests of all of us. But while Ellison seeks  peace, a group of Republicans is embracing the opposite.

Rep. Keith Ellison’s pilgrimage to Mecca last month was paid for by a group a Fox News “terrorism expert” calls “the Muslim equivalent of the neo-Nazi party.” But said expert neglected to reveal two things: the group’s high praise from the likes of Walter Mondale and the Minnesota Council of Churches and his own extreme — and sometimes factually challenged — views on Muslim groups.
