Video: Obama Girl teams up with the former Democratic presidential candidate you’ve never heard of

There are three things one needs to know about Mike Gravel. 1) In pronouncing his last name, the accent goes on the second syllable; it rhymes with “Oh, hell.” 2) A former US senator from Alaska, he was and still is a candidate for president. (Though he started the race as a Dem, he switched in late March to the Libertarian Party.) 3) He wants you to know that, as he says in closing, “If you have second thoughts, I’m on Twitter!”

48 percent of Americans “irritated” by Obama Girl, her hometown backs Clinton

As a national opinion research firm finds that 48 percent of Americans are “irritated” by Obama Girl‘s latest YouTube video and 35 percent were “embarrassed” by it, McClatchy reports that Amber Lee Ettinger’s hometown of Hazelton, Penn., leans toward Hillary Clinton. A priceless quote in its story comes from one older resident, who shares her concerns about Barack Obama. “I don’t want to be a Muslim!” When told Obama is Christian she replies, “Then why did he go see what’s-his-name over in Iraq, that Lama?”

Not sure if Obama Girl’s neologism “Obama Nation” (which sounds a lot like “abomination”) is a keeper, but the message of her latest video seems to have some traction. Urging Hillary Clinton to drop out of the race — and fess up as a closet Obama Girl herself — she’s singing the same tune as conservative New York Times columnist David Brooks: writing about Clinton’s “audacity of hopelessness” on Tuesday, he says Clinton’s continued campaign is helping John McCain, who already has a 67 percent favorable rating, and not the Democratic Party.
