Meteorologists may have failed to forecast yesterday’s freak tornado, but political scientists are now able to predict when U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann will next appear on a national cable news show: Aug. 27.

By way of explaining his decision not to seek re-election, Gov. Tim Pawlenty bragged to Fox News host Sean Hannity last night that “in Minnesota [we're] good about taking turns.” In view of Pawlenty’s past, his highlighting the concept of taking turns is highly suggestive about how he sees his future.

“Minnesota Representative and free-range cougar” Michele Bachmann got prominent play on The Daily Show last night as a key example of conservatives “speaking crazy to power.” At 2:50 into the clip (below), host Jon Stewart plays Bachmann’s recent comments that an expansion of the AmeriCorps program might lead to PC “re-education camps.”

Former U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman, appearing on Fox News’ Hannity’s America program Tuesday, described Minnesota’s election process as having favored rival Al Franken since the recount started. Coleman did not directly dispute host Sean Hannity’s assertion that the State Canvassing Board “was conflicted” and “only allowed the recount for … precincts that would tend to favor Al Franken.”
