Americans United for Change is launching a one-minute radio ad attacking Rep. Michele Bachmann’s recent statements about wanting to “wean” Americans off Social Security. The ads will play on Thursday and Friday in St. Cloud on stations WWJO-FM, KZPK-FM and WJON-AM.

At least two fliers mocking Islam have been found near Somali-oriented businesses in St. Cloud, the St. Cloud Times reported Thursday. The images included swastikas and the Muslim prophet Mohammed in sexualized situations.

In an interview with AM 1280 on Saturday, Rep. Michele Bachmann announced that she will have Rep. Ron Paul as her guest for a September town hall forum in St. Cloud.

Two Star Tribune reporters have answered the charges former U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman made yesterday against them. All but lost in the shuffle by her comments Friday about “anti-American views” are Rep. Michele Bachmann’s controversial words about immigrants at last Thursday’s candidate’s debate in St. Cloud. According to the St. Cloud Times, Bachmann again blamed programs that encourage home-buying among minority and low-income people for the recent economic crisis. But Bachmann reserved her sharpest words for immigrants. She referenced an early 2008 car crash by an undocumented immigrant who hit a school bus near Cottonwood as proof of the need for stricter immigration laws.

Of immigrants unlawfully in the U.S., she added, “They’re bringing in disease and violence and every sort of difficulty. We need to protect ourselves against that.”

The cost to replace the Minnesota Highway 23 DeSoto Bridge is between $30 and 35 million, a lot of which will likely come from the transportation bill passed by the legislature earlier this year after a contentious debate. But, will the area see any federal funds for the bridge?
