GOP web ad warns of Al-mageddon

A new Republican web ad, titled “60,” again recycles footage of Al Franken gesticulating wildly — in imitation of the late U.S. Sen. Paul Wellstone cheering his son’s cross-country race. This time it’s accompanied by mournful music, because after Sen.-elect Franken’s swearing-in today, Democratic votes in the U.S. Senate reach the dreaded number 60.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) ad opens with a grainy image of Franken making a hurling motion with his arm in front of a brick wall and a dark-skinned man in a baseball cap. Unspoken words in a typeface familiar from the Obama campaign appear on the screen as the footage of Franken flickers past:

It’s finally here … with 60 senators … the Democrats have total control … No checks. No balances. … Higher energy taxes? No debate. … Government-run health care? No debate. … Eliminating the secret ballot? No debate. … They own everything. … And have no one to blame now. … Their taxes. … Their record deficits. … Their failed economy. … In 2010, you can hold them accountable. … Vote Republican. 2010.

Dems keep up multimedia razzing of Coleman with Tedisco-themed video

The Democratic National Committee has a new Web ad urging Norm Coleman to concede as his fellow Republican Jim Tedisco did Friday in New York’s special congressional election. It’s the latest example of the Web-based razzing Dems are giving the former U.S. Senator since he appealed his re-election loss to the Minnesota Supreme Court last week.

Franken unveils web ad to highlight wrongly rejected absentee ballots

The Al Franken for Senate campaign unveiled a new web ad today entitled “My Vote” that highlights the stories of Minnesota voters who say their absentee ballots were wrongly rejected. A companion Web site, CountMyVote, is designed to collect voter testimonials and comments on the vote count and recount in the Minnesota Senate election.
